Current Job:
Doctoral Researcher at The University of Birmingham. I work in the research labs within the School of Chemistry, working on new battery technologies.
I am also a postgraduate demonstrator in the chemistry teaching labs. A postgraduate demonstrator guides undergraduate students (so students who are studying their first degree after doing their A-levels/BTECs/Scottish Highers at Sixth Form/College) through a practical chemistry lab. We support these students in this training and for them to do so safely.

I’m a solid state Chemist at the University of Birmingham. I love working in the field of energy materials (rechargeable batteries) – I think it’s amazing how we can take a powder and make it functional.
I also love making a mess with doing art and I do like having my nose in fiction books! During lockdowns in the UK, each week I have been joining online art classes.
I live with my partner James and we have two pet rats – Patch and Plum.
I absolutely love pasta dishes and definitely lasagne!
My pronouns are she/her.

Arrive in the office around 9 am, catch up on emails and book equipment I may need.
9:30 am – 10 am join my boss and the rest of the group for a morning coffee/tea break.
10 am – 12:30 am work in the lab/office.
12:30 – 1 pm have lunch
1 pm – 5/6 pm work in the lab/office.If going into the lab, I’ve got to get myself kitted up into my very large lab coat and my lab specs. Sometimes after coming back from holidays, it’s normally a wild goose chase in finding where I left my work/samples!
Instead of lab and office work, I could be teaching in the undergraduate labs and helping them run their own practical.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Chatty. Positive. Motivated.
What did you want to be after you left school?
I actually wanted to go study Physics... you ask me about what happened since 2013 when I left Sixth Form and how I've ended up in Solid State Chemistry.
Were you ever in trouble at school?
I was pretty much a goody two shoes. I think for the whole of high school, I was only put in detention once (the teacher thought the whole form was absent), but I went to the head of year and got the form out of it hehe.
Who is your favourite singer or band?
During my teenage years, I LOVED My Chemical Romance. Nowadays, I love Lady Gaga, Halsey, Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly.
What's your favourite food?
I do love a chunky lasagne.
If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!
Tricky - I will have to come back to this!
Tell us a joke.
Me: Knock knock. You: Who's there? Me: p. You: p who?
