• Question: How many ant species are there on the earth?

      There are over 12,000 known species of ants! But that’s only the known ones – there will be many more unknown ones. Unfortunately we’ll never discover many of the unknown ant species as they may become extinct before we find them. But on a positive note we’ll still finding lots of ant species – particularly in Central America, but also in peoples’ own gardens (see here: https://phys.org/news/2019-11-ant-expert-newly-emergent-species.html)
