      As a theory and simulation scientist I do not get that opportunity any more, but as a student in my undergraduate days I made a few explosions – mainly through letting chemicals such as ether get a bit too hot.
      Unless you work on energetic materials (i.e. explosives) I think a lot of these explosions are simply due to lack of thinking about what you are doing

      I once set fire to a computer I was working on half way up a mountain. It was particularly impressive because it was below 0 degrees and there really isn’t that much oxygen at those altitudes.
