I love this question. Three ways:

      1) Education. If you know that your house is on fire, and you know how to put out a fire, then the damage is less. It’s why we get taught this from a very young age. We need to tell everybody about why the climate is changing, why it is bad, and how to fix it. The more people know what’s going on and how to fix it, the bigger our chance of saving the planet is.

      2) Listen more. We think we know best in the UK. Our science is outstanding, but sometimes we need to stop and listen to the people being most impacted. We can come up with an idea to save the Arctic, but we need to listen to the people actually living there – because it might not work in practice. We need to learn from the people who know these ecosystems best.

      3) End poverty. Similar to question 1, the more people have the ability to adapt to climate change, the better off we’ll be. We are one species. We are one planet. We need to work together to help our neighbours who aren’t as rich as we are. If more people have the capacity and tools and knowledge to recycle, plant trees, and make sustainable life choices, the better the planet will be.

Great question – there is no easy answer though! I think a couple of really important points are
      1) Education – if people don’t know there is a problem & that they are part of the problem then they won’t have any incentive to try & change their behaviour in order to fix the climate crisis.

      2) Range of technologies – We also have to have a wide range of answers / possibilities so that countries in all stages of development & all economic status’ have a chance to be able to change – if the solution is way too expensive for a developing country then they are not going to be able to adopt it.

      3) Working together – Scientists need to work with politicians / decision makers / marketing to make sure that their solutions are published in an understandable way for everyone. Scientific papers need to be translated into “everyday speak” so that everyone can understand

There are so many things that need to happen! Liam is right though, educate, listen, end poverty, innovate, share knowledge better.
