      We use samplers to check the pH for water quality, and are testing some spectrometers to see if we can identify chemicals in the water. There are flow meters and depth gauges to monitor how the river is behaving ( you can see the output from these at https://www.gaugemap.co.uk/.
      For less technical things, we use nets for kick testing – sampling to see how the invertebrates and mini-bugs are doing in the river.
