The Earth as a planet will keep going for many billions of years. The Sun still has about 10 billion years left to burn, but in about 7.5 billion years it’ll swell up and absorb the Earth.

At the moment, the Earth is in something called the “Goldilocks Zone”. This means we’re close enough to the Sun to stay nice and warm, but we’re far enough away to not be fried to death by its heat. We think the Earth will leave the “Goldilocks Zone” in about 4 billion years, and life will no longer be able to be on Earth. But we’ll have invented spaceships by then… right?!
