• Question: why do plants need photosynthesis to stay alive

      Another great question.
      Again, I don’t know why they need it, it is just that they evolved that way.
      At some point in the looong history of life on earth some beings evolved to eat things to survive and some evolved to use sunlight and water to survive.
      One became animals and the other one plants.
      The plants use sunlight, water, CO2 and some minerals to make oxygen and sugar from it, but I guess you already knew that 😉
